We are the prime suppliers of crab meat in Cornwall.
At W Harvey & Sons we sell crabmeat and other crabmeat products to many other merchants, shops, caterers, hotels, etc. Crabs are the core part of our business, stored in our seawater holding tanks for the shortest period to ensure top quality for our customers.

W Harvey & Sons has its own small fleet of shellfish boats operating from Newlyn, but acts as a major south west shellfish merchant, buying catches from vessels all over Cornwall, Devon and beyond. At its Stable Hobba processing works, a detached building holds a maintenance store to keep the Harvey shellfish fleet in operation 12 months per year.

Shellfishing is an environmentally sound fishery. It does not kill porpoises, dolphins or seals. Anything that is too small from the pot is put back into the sea to carry on breeding (but has also had a free meal from the bait whilst in the pot!), as are berried lobsters and crabs. It does not damage the environment the pot is in and sea bed is left unharmed.
